CYPRESS KNEES
They grow in the swamps along the bayous of the Southeast US. Trees mature
extensions of the root system grow above water or ground line forming a very
unique shape. These are known as “knees” No 2 pieces are the same. Harvesting
them DO NOT hurt the tree. The knees are very soft and either carve with hand
tools or power. They can be used for bases or stands for fish and wildlife
carvings.
